Updated: SEATTLE - It's the first day of school for nearly 50,000 students in Seattle, but high school students will be sleeping in a little this year because of changed school start times. The time changes are going to affect drivers, too. Drive patterns around schools are going to shift starting Wednesday morning.

The city of Federal Way has hired two new police officers and plans to add a third by Aug. 16, bringing the total count to 127 of the city's 131 budgeted officer positions. After Federal Way's unprecedented three murders in 48 hours in May, many community members criticized the Federal Way Police Department for not operating at full staff capacity.
